Snapchat

Schedule Snapchat posts. The shortest budget in the list, so every word counts.

Snapchat has the tightest character allowance of any platform Postonus publishes to, and one piece of media per post. That combination makes it the channel where a shared multi-platform body is least likely to fit unchanged.

The tightest budget here

The table above has the number, and it is smaller than every other platform Postonus publishes to — smaller than Bluesky's 300, well under a tenth of Instagram's caption allowance.

The consequence for multi-platform posting is direct: whatever shared body you wrote for the rest of your channels will not fit. Snapchat is the channel that always needs its own version.

That is worth knowing before you schedule rather than after, which is why the composer counts against each selected channel's own limit as you type rather than against the most generous one.

Vertical video travels, copy does not

If you are already producing short-form vertical video for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts, the asset itself is reusable here — that is the format working as designed.

The text is the part that has to change, and not by trimming. A caption cut down from 200 characters to fit a much smaller budget reads like a truncated sentence, because that is what it is. Write the short version as a short version. Auto-repurposing does this per destination rather than truncating.

One media item per post, per the table above. A carousel or multi-image set has to become a single asset, or several separate posts.

Where it fits

Snapchat is rarely a primary channel for the audiences Postonus is built for, and it would be odd to claim otherwise. Where it earns its place is as one more destination for video you are already making — the marginal cost of adding it to an existing batch is a caption, not a production.

Questions

Frequently asked questions Everything the first evaluation usually needs.

Can I schedule Snapchat content in advance?

Yes, through Snapchat’s official API with a permission you grant during connection. Posts publish at the scheduled time.

How much text can a Snapchat post carry?

Very little — the exact figure is in the table above, and it is the smallest of any platform here. Write for it directly rather than trimming something longer.

How many media items per post?

One. See the table above, which reflects the rules the publisher enforces rather than a hand-written list.

Can I reuse my TikTok or Reels content?

The vertical video usually transfers fine. The copy almost never does, because the budget here is a fraction of the others — this is a case for a per-channel override or auto-repurposing.

Does Snapchat support a first comment?

No. First comments are an Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Threads feature.
