Postonus vs Metricool
One of us tracks performance. The other one just schedules it.
Metricool built its product around analytics first and scheduling second. Postonus is the opposite: scheduling, recycling, and approvals, with no analytics feature at all. If reporting is what you actually need, say so up front — this comparison is more useful with that admitted early.
No card, no analytics — just scheduling.
Side by side
Postonus vs Metricool. Where each one is stronger.
| Capability | Postonus | Metricool |
|---|---|---|
| Price shape | $0 free workspace, then $12–$99/mo flat tiers | Free tier (1 brand, 20 posts/mo), then $20–$36/mo scaling brands |
| Social accounts / brands | 10 (Hobby) to unlimited (Business) | 1 brand free, 5–10 on Starter |
| Platforms supported | 16, incl. Reddit, Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp | 10 (excludes LinkedIn and X on the free tier) |
| Analytics | None — no analytics feature exists | Analytics-led product: dashboards and reporting are the core strength |
| Bulk scheduling | CSV import of local files, 50 posts/batch | Not documented |
| Evergreen recycling | Tag pool + rule with a reuse cooldown | Not documented |
| Developer surfaces | MCP server, CLI, and API on every paid plan | Official MCP on any plan; REST API from Advanced tier up; no CLI found |
| Free tier | Free workspace: hold drafts, no live publishing | Real free tier: 1 brand, 20 published posts/mo |
Capabilities
What you get with vs Metricool.
- Three developer surfaces, not one
- MCP, CLI, and REST API all ship on every paid plan. Metricool’s MCP is broad too, but we found no CLI, so scripting against it means the REST API directly.
- 16 platforms, not 10
- Reddit, Discord, Telegram, Tumblr, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and Google Business Profile are all connected accounts here, none of them on Metricool’s list.
- Recycle rules with a cooldown
- Tag a post, attach a rule, set a minimum gap before reuse. We found nothing documented about equivalent recycling in Metricool’s own materials.
- Approvals without a client login
- Revocable share links let someone review and approve a calendar without ever creating an account.
The real trade-off
Say this plainly, because burying it would make the rest of the page useless: Metricool is an analytics product that also schedules posts, and Postonus is a scheduling product with no analytics at all. If you need to show a client a performance report, or you make decisions based on what content is working, Metricool covers that today and Postonus does not.
What Postonus does instead is go wider on platforms and deeper on team workflow — recycling, approvals, and a share-link review flow that does not require the client to have an account anywhere.
Where Metricool genuinely wins
Its free tier is real: one brand, 20 posts a month, and analytics dashboards from day one. Its paid tiers keep scaling that reporting depth as you add brands. If your job is explaining social performance to someone else — a client, a manager, a founder — Metricool was built for exactly that conversation and Postonus was not built for it at all.
Pricing at a glance
Metricool prices by brand rather than by flat tier, so the comparison depends on how many brands you actually run.
| Postonus Hobby | Metricool free | Metricool Starter | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $12/mo ($115/yr) | $0 | $20–$36/mo |
| Accounts / brands | 10 | 1 brand | 5–10 brands |
| Posts/mo | No separate monthly cap | 20 | Not specified |
| Platform gaps | None | Excludes LinkedIn and X | — |
One brand for free with real analytics is a genuinely low-friction way to try a scheduler before paying anything, and it is a fair reason to start there even if you later outgrow it. Postonus's free workspace has no brand cap on the 3 accounts it allows, but none of them can publish until you subscribe — a different shape of free, not a strictly better or worse one.
Developer access on both sides
Metricool ships an official MCP server on any plan, including free — so an assistant can already query it without a Postonus-specific advantage there. What we could not find was a CLI. Postonus ships MCP, an npm CLI, and a REST API together, starting on Hobby, which matters if your workflow is a script rather than a chat client.
When Metricool is the better choice
Concretely: an agency that reports monthly to clients, a solo creator who wants to see which posts actually performed before planning next month's content, or anyone evaluating a scheduler where "does it have analytics" is the first filter question. Metricool answers yes. Postonus answers no, without qualification.
There is no lightweight or partial analytics feature planned as a Postonus differentiator here — the honest answer is that this is not the product's focus, and Metricool's is.
What Postonus does not do
- No analytics. No performance dashboards, no reporting exports, nothing that competes with Metricool's core feature.
- No brand-based free tier that publishes. The free workspace holds drafts; it does not schedule or publish until you subscribe.
- No documented recycling comparison. We found nothing published about Metricool's recycling capability to compare against, so this page does not claim an advantage there either way.
If platform breadth and developer access outweigh reporting for your workflow, the platform pages list what each network supports.
The two products are, honestly, solving slightly different problems. Metricool wants to be the place you understand your social performance. Postonus wants to be the place you plan, schedule, recycle, and get client sign-off across more platforms than most competitors bother connecting. Neither claim covers the other's territory, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise.

Questions
Frequently asked questions Everything the first evaluation usually needs.
- Does Postonus have analytics like Metricool?
No. Postonus has no analytics feature at all — not a lighter version, none. If reporting and performance dashboards are the primary need, that is Metricool’s actual strength and worth weighing heavily.
- When is Metricool the better choice?
When analytics and reporting are the point, not an add-on — an agency delivering monthly performance summaries to clients, or anyone who wants to see what is working before deciding what to schedule next. Its free tier is also genuinely usable for evaluating the product before paying anything.
- Does Metricool have an MCP server?
Yes, official and available on any plan including free. That rules out MCP access as a reason to choose one product over the other — the difference is elsewhere, like the CLI Metricool does not appear to have.
- What does Metricool’s free tier include that Postonus’s does not?
Metricool’s free tier can publish up to 20 posts a month on one brand. Postonus’s free workspace holds drafts and lets you plan content, but cannot schedule or publish live without a paid plan.
- Which platform list is wider?
Postonus supports 16 platforms, including Reddit, Discord, Telegram, Tumblr, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and Google Business Profile. Metricool supports 10, and its free tier excludes LinkedIn and X specifically.
- Is there a CLI for Metricool?
None found. Its REST API is available from the Advanced tier up, and the MCP server covers any plan, but a dedicated command-line tool does not appear to exist.
