What to expect from a PDF
- Nothing is uploaded. A PDF is often the most sensitive file someone owns — a contract, a payslip, a medical letter. This converter runs as WebAssembly inside your tab, so the file is read by your own browser and never sent to a server.
- A PDF records where each character sits on the page, not what it means, so expect a plainer result than the same document in Word: headings and paragraphs come through, while list numbering and table borders sometimes flatten into ordinary text. That is the format’s doing, not a setting you can change.
- Scanned PDFs cannot be converted, and this tool says so instead of returning an empty file. If the pages are photographs of paper, there is no text inside to extract — that needs OCR, which is a different job.
- No page cap and no queue. A long report converts in a few hundred milliseconds because nothing is waiting on a network round trip.

Workers retry with exponential backoff. Failures show up in the Activity Feed with one-click retry. We email you only for unrecoverable failures (e.g. revoked token).
