Why Word converts best
- A .docx already stores what each part of the document means, so the Markdown comes out close to what you wrote: real heading levels, ordered and nested lists that keep their numbering, task-list checkboxes, block quotes, and tables with their merged cells intact.
- Footnotes and endnotes survive as Markdown footnotes rather than being dropped or dumped at the end as loose text.
- Embedded pictures are recovered too. Markdown itself carries only their alt text, so the images are offered as a separate download rather than as links to files that would not exist.
- Both .doc and .docx work, and the format is read from the file’s own content — a document saved with the wrong extension still converts. Nothing is uploaded at any point.

- What happens if a post fails to publish?
Workers retry with exponential backoff. Failures show up in the Activity Feed with one-click retry. We email you only for unrecoverable failures (e.g. revoked token).
